The short version
Ahrefs Brand Radar and Axiom GEO both show how brands appear in AI answers, and both sit next to classic SEO tools. Brand Radar's main strength is breadth. It holds a large index of AI answers to search-backed prompts, so you can look up any brand without setting anything up. Axiom GEO works from the prompt set you build and adds answer accuracy checks, reviews, local tracking and white label client reports. If you already use Ahrefs and want quick AI research on any brand, Brand Radar is a natural add, while agencies and brands worried about wrong facts may prefer Axiom GEO.

Where Ahrefs Brand Radar is strong
Breadth is the big one. The Brand Radar page describes hundreds of millions of search-backed prompts across six AI tools. The help centre explains how that index is built. Ahrefs takes People Also Ask questions from its keyword index and enters them into the web version of each AI chatbot. It uses the default model with no personalisation.
That means you can research any brand straight away. There is no prompt set to write, which is handy for pitches, market research and checking a competitor you have not tracked before.
It ties AI visibility to search demand. Brand Radar reports impressions weighted by real search volume, and shows the keywords behind your visibility. The custom prompts page also mentions the fan-out queries AI generates behind the scenes.
Custom prompts add depth. The custom prompts guide says you choose the assistants, the location and how often each prompt refreshes. Paid Ahrefs plans include a monthly allowance of checks, and you can buy more. It is worth knowing how often each part refreshes. The help centre says AI chatbot data in the index updates about once a month and AI Overviews every few days. Custom prompts are the way to get daily checks.
A few other things are worth a mention.
- Web, YouTube and Reddit. The help centre lists reports for web mentions, YouTube visibility, Reddit presence and TikTok brand detection.
- Cited pages and domains. You can see which pages and domains AI answers cite for a brand.
- One account for SEO and AI. The Ahrefs home page lists Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Rank Tracker, Site Audit, GBP Monitor and Report Builder next to Brand Radar.
For a team that already works in Ahrefs every day, this is a lot of AI data with nothing new to learn.
Where Axiom GEO is different
The main difference is answer accuracy. Axiom GEO builds a fact sheet of your business from your website, Google Business Profile and brief, approved by a person. It then breaks each answer into claims and marks each one correct, partly true, wrong, out of date or not covered. Similar problems are grouped into issues with a suggested fix, and tasks are marked fixed when later answers stop saying it. See answer accuracy for the detail. Ahrefs' Brand Radar pages do not list a check like this.
The second is how each answer is read. Axiom GEO records sentiment, where the brand first appears, whether it was recommended and which competitors are named. Share of voice is weighted by position, and a 0-100 prominence score folds in recommendation, citations and sentiment. The Brand Radar pages checked do not mention sentiment. AI visibility tracking explains how these are measured.
How answers are collected also differs, and it is fair to say so. Axiom GEO asks each engine through its API, on a schedule you set. Gemini and Claude answer from what the model already knows, which shows how the model itself sees your brand. Consumer apps can differ a little because of personal history, location and model version.
The third is local and client work. Google Business Profile reviews are pulled daily, tagged to the campaign or salesperson that drove them, with AI draft replies. Local citations track directory listings and their status. Each client gets an isolated workspace with client logins, and client reports go out as white label monthly PDFs. Tasks from accuracy issues and content opportunities flow into work management, where outcomes are measured later.
Pricing is on the pricing page. One credit is 1p and every action has a set credit price, and every credit spent is logged. That makes it simple to work out what a prompt set will cost across each engine before you commit.
There are limits worth stating plainly. Axiom GEO does not hold an index of prompts for looking up any brand without setup. It works from your own prompt set. The Starter plan covers Gemini only.
Which should you choose?
It depends on the job you need done each month. Some common cases are below.
- An SEO team already on Ahrefs. Brand Radar is the easy add, since custom prompts come with paid plans and the data sits next to your SEO work.
- A team that researches many brands or markets. Brand Radar, for its index of search-backed prompts that needs no setup.
- A brand worried about wrong facts in AI answers. Axiom GEO, because it checks each claim against your approved facts.
- An agency that sends branded client reports. Axiom GEO, with isolated workspaces, client logins and white label PDFs. See our agencies page.
- A multi-location business that relies on reviews. Axiom GEO, for review tracking, local citations and location-aware prompts in one place.
It helps to trial any tool on your own prompts first. Our guide on how to choose an AI visibility tool lists the questions worth asking, and the compare hub has our other comparisons.
