In brief
The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit suits teams who already work in Semrush and want AI visibility next to its SEO tools. Axiom GEO suits teams who want to check whether AI answers about them are correct, see position-weighted share of voice, and run client work and reports in one UK-built platform.
Key points
- Semrush sells its AI Visibility Toolkit on its own or bundled with the SEO Toolkit in Semrush One.
- Semrush's pages list ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, Gemini and Perplexity, with coverage that varies by report.
- Axiom GEO checks each claim in an AI answer against a fact sheet you approve, which Semrush's site does not list.
- Axiom GEO weights share of voice by position and adds a 0-100 prominence score.
- Teams already on Semrush may find the toolkit the simpler add, while agencies and accuracy-focused brands may prefer Axiom GEO.
The short version
Both tools ask AI engines questions and report how often a brand shows up in the answers. The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit sits inside the wider Semrush platform. You can buy it on its own or as part of Semrush One, which bundles it with the SEO Toolkit. Axiom GEO is one platform built around AI visibility, answer accuracy and the classic search work that sits next to it. If you already pay for Semrush and mainly want a view of AI mentions, the toolkit is a natural add. Axiom GEO is built for checking that answers are right and for running client work.
How do they compare?

Where the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit is strong
The biggest strength is where it lives. Many SEO teams already use Semrush every day. Semrush One combines the SEO Toolkit and the AI Visibility Toolkit in one subscription, so classic search and AI visibility sit in one account and one bill.
It is also quick to start. The features page describes Visibility Overview as a high-level view of any brand's AI visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews. That is handy for a pitch or a quick benchmark, because you do not need to build a prompt set first.
Brand Performance works the same way. Semrush says it generates synthetic prompts from your domain and location, then reports share of voice and sentiment, updated weekly. Prompt Tracking then adds daily checks on the prompts you choose.
A few other reports are worth a look.
- Prompt Research. Explore Semrush's own database of prompts to find topics in your industry.
- AI Traffic dashboard. Estimates of how much AI referral traffic competitors get from sources such as ChatGPT and Gemini.
- AI-readiness Site Audit. Checks whether your site blocks AI crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Claude-SearchBot.
- Content Toolkit. Checks draft content against factors Semrush links to higher citation rates.
For a team that already knows Semrush, all of this comes with no new tool to learn. That counts for a lot.
Where Axiom GEO is different
The main difference is answer accuracy. Being mentioned is only half the story if the answer gets your prices, locations or services wrong. Axiom GEO builds a fact sheet of your business, approved by a person. It then breaks every answer into claims and checks each one as correct, partly true, wrong, out of date or not covered. Similar problems are grouped into issues with the engines that said it and a suggested fix. You can read more on the answer accuracy page. Semrush's site does not list a check like this.
The second difference is how share of voice is scored. Axiom GEO weights each mention by where it appears, so being named first counts more than being named last. It also gives a 0-100 prominence score that folds in recommendation, citations and sentiment. Our competitor share of voice page explains the maths.
The third is how answers are collected. Axiom GEO asks each engine through its API. ChatGPT and Perplexity answers come with the pages they cite, which feed AI citation tracking. Gemini and Claude answer from what the model already knows, which shows how the model itself sees your brand. To be fair, consumer apps can differ a little from API answers because of personal history, location and model version.
The fourth is agency and local work. Each client gets its own workspace, isolated at database level, with client logins. Accuracy can stay hidden from client users until staff turn it on. Client reports go out as white label monthly PDFs, and the numbers are re-checked before a report is sent. On the local side, rank tracking runs to town level anywhere in the UK, next to Google Business Profile reviews and local citations.
The work does not stop at a report. Accuracy issues, content opportunities and new questions can go straight to work management as tasks, with the evidence attached. When a task is linked to an issue, prompt or page, the platform records a baseline. It later measures whether the issue cleared or visibility rose.
Pricing works on credits. One credit is 1p, every action has a published price, and every credit spent is logged. The pricing page lists the plans.
There are limits worth being clear about. Axiom GEO works from the prompt set you build, so it does not offer an instant view of any domain the way Visibility Overview does. The Starter plan covers Gemini only. And no tool, ours included, can promise a mention in an AI answer.
Which should you choose?
It depends on what you need to answer each month. A few common cases are below.
- An in-house SEO team already on Semrush. The toolkit, or Semrush One, is the easy add. You keep one login and one bill, and the reports sit next to the SEO data you already use.
- An agency with several clients. Axiom GEO is likely the better fit. Isolated workspaces, client logins, white label reports and task tracking are all built in. Our agencies page covers this in more detail.
- A brand worried about wrong facts in AI answers. Axiom GEO, because it checks each claim against your approved facts and points to the page behind a wrong detail.
- A team that wants quick benchmarks on any brand. The Semrush toolkit, because its overview reports need no prompt set.
- A local or multi-location business in the UK. Axiom GEO, for town-level rank tracking, reviews and location-aware prompts in the same login.
It helps to run a trial on your own prompts before deciding. Our guide on how to choose an AI visibility tool lists the questions worth asking any vendor, and the compare hub has our other side by side pages.
