In brief

Profound suits large brands that want wide engine coverage, answers captured from the browser, prompt volume data and enterprise controls such as SSO. Axiom GEO suits agencies and UK businesses that want AI visibility, accuracy checks, rank tracking, reviews and white label reports in one login, with plan prices and credit rates published.

Key points

  • Profound's site lists up to nine answer engines on its Enterprise plan and says it captures answers directly from the browser.
  • Both products check AI answers for accuracy, through Profound's FactCheck and Axiom GEO's answer accuracy checks.
  • Profound adds prompt volume data, ChatGPT Shopping tracking and server log based Agent Analytics.
  • Axiom GEO adds classic search tools in the same login, such as UK rank tracking, reviews and local citations.
  • Profound shows a free trial and custom Enterprise pricing, while Axiom GEO publishes plan prices and a credit price for every action.

The short version

Profound and Axiom GEO both track how brands appear in AI answers, and both check those answers for accuracy. Profound is aimed at large brands. Its site lists up to nine answer engines, answers captured from the browser, prompt volume data, content agents and enterprise controls. Axiom GEO puts AI visibility, answer accuracy and classic search in one login, with plan prices and credit rates on the website. If you are a large brand with a procurement team, Profound is worth a close look, while agencies and UK businesses may find Axiom GEO a better fit.

How do they compare?

Where Profound is strong

Profound covers a wide set of engines. Its pricing page lists up to nine on the Enterprise plan, including Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek and Exa Search. Its Answer Engine Insights page also mentions Grok, and says it supports more than 30 languages and 150 regions.

How it collects answers is a real strength. Profound says it captures answers directly from the browser, so what you see is what your customers see. That is closer to the consumer apps than an API call.

It also has tools beyond monitoring.

  • Prompt Volumes. Data on what real users ask AI, to help pick prompts that match actual demand.
  • Agent Analytics. AI crawler tracking from server logs, with bot verification and a view of human visits that come from AI search. The docs list integrations for Cloudflare, Vercel, Fastly, Akamai, WordPress, Shopify and others.
  • Shopping. Tracking of how products appear in ChatGPT Shopping.
  • Agents. Automated content workflows that research, write and publish content.
  • FactCheck. A check on the accuracy of AI claims, with the sources behind them.

For large organisations the enterprise side matters. The pricing page lists SSO and SAML, SOC 2 compliance and dedicated support. According to its website, Profound is trusted by a third of the Fortune 100. For agencies, the Agency Mode help page describes pitch workspaces for prospects and client workspaces for ongoing work. Pitch workspaces usually expire after about 30 days and can be promoted to client workspaces. The same page notes that Workflows, Content and Agent Analytics are Enterprise features set at the organisation level.

Where Axiom GEO is different

Both tools check accuracy, so the difference is in how. Axiom GEO starts with a fact sheet of your business, drafted from your website, Google Business Profile and brief, then approved by a person. Each claim is marked correct, partly true, wrong, out of date or not covered. Locations and offers can be listed with start and end dates. For engines that name no source, a source finder looks for the pages that state the wrong detail. The answer accuracy page covers this in full.

The biggest practical difference is classic search in the same login. Axiom GEO includes rank tracking to town level anywhere in the UK, Google AI Overview tracking, Google Business Profile reviews, local citations and link building. Profound's site does not list rank tracking or review tools.

How answers are collected is also different, and it is fair to say so. Axiom GEO asks each engine through its API. ChatGPT and Perplexity answers include the pages they cite. Gemini and Claude answer from what the model already knows, which shows how the model itself sees your brand. Consumer apps can differ a little because of personal history, location and model version.

Competitor tracking goes further than counting mentions. Axiom GEO reads every stored answer and records every brand named, whether it was recommended and why. Share of voice is weighted by position, so being named first counts more than being named last. Competitor share of voice can also be split by country or region when you run the same prompts in different markets.

For agencies, each client workspace is isolated at database level, with its own client logins. Accuracy can stay hidden from client users until staff turn it on. Client reports go out as white label monthly PDFs with the client's logo. Tasks from accuracy issues and content opportunities flow into work management, where the platform later measures whether the issue cleared.

Axiom GEO also reads server logs. AI crawler analytics shows which AI bots visit, how often and which pages.

Pricing is published. The pricing page lists each plan and what it includes. One credit is 1p and every action has a set credit price, so you can work out the cost of a prompt set before you start.

There are limits worth stating plainly. Axiom GEO covers fewer engines than Profound's Enterprise plan. It does not offer prompt volume data or ChatGPT Shopping tracking. The Starter plan covers Gemini only.

Which should you choose?

It depends on the size of the brand and who does the work. Some common cases are below.

  • A large brand with a procurement team. Profound may suit you better, for its engine coverage, browser-captured answers, SSO and dedicated support.
  • An ecommerce brand that sells through ChatGPT. Profound, for its ChatGPT Shopping tracking.
  • An agency with several clients. Axiom GEO is likely the better fit, with isolated workspaces, client logins, white label reports and task tracking. Our agencies page goes into more detail.
  • A UK business with local customers. Axiom GEO, for town-level rank tracking, reviews and location-aware prompts in one place.
  • A team that needs to know costs up front. Axiom GEO, because plan prices and credit rates are on the website.

It helps to trial any tool on your own prompts first. Our guide on how to choose an AI visibility tool lists the questions worth asking, and the compare hub has our other comparisons.

Frequently asked questions

Is Axiom GEO a good alternative to Profound?

Yes, for agencies and small to mid-sized teams who want AI visibility, accuracy checks and classic search in one login with published prices. Profound may suit a large brand better if it needs many engines, answers captured from the browser, SSO and SOC 2 compliance, and a dedicated account team.

Does Profound check AI answers for accuracy?

Yes. Profound's site describes a feature called FactCheck that verifies the accuracy of AI claims and shows inaccurate claims with their sources. Axiom GEO also checks accuracy, breaking each answer into claims and checking them against a fact sheet you approve, on the Professional plan and above.

How does Profound collect AI answers?

According to its Answer Engine Insights page, Profound captures answers directly from the browser, so what you see matches what customers see. Axiom GEO collects answers through each engine's API, which is repeatable but can differ a little from the consumer apps.

Which is better for agencies?

Both have agency features. Profound offers Agency Mode with pitch and client workspaces and an Agency Growth plan with credits per client workspace. Axiom GEO adds client logins, white label monthly PDF reports and task tracking. Profound's Agency Mode help page does not mention white label reports.

Can I use both?

Yes. A large brand might use Profound for wide engine coverage and prompt volume data, and an agency might use Axiom GEO for client reporting, local search and accuracy fixes. The main cost is paying twice for AI tracking, so it helps to agree which tool owns which prompts.
