Two ways to track an AI Overview
Keyword tracking looks at live Google results for keywords you pick. It notes whether an AI Overview appeared, whether your site was cited and which other pages Google used. It is close to classic rank tracking, and most SEO platforms now do it.
Prompt tracking asks a question in an AI engine such as Google AI Mode or ChatGPT and reads the answer. It picks up how people ask in full sentences, which a keyword list misses.
You probably need both. One covers Google traffic. The other catches questions typed into ChatGPT or AI Mode that may never turn into a search.

Ahrefs

Axiom GEO
We check AI Overviews once a week for each of your rank tracking keywords. Each check saves whether an overview appeared, whether you were cited, the sources Google used and what changed since the week before.
